Newman placed 4th in the Men's advanced, JoJo 8th and Paul 10th. Great job everyone and thank you to those who came to cheer us on, especially Bill Simpson who stayed ALL day!
Let the record reflect… I was busy judging the other heats and not, in any way, disrespecting any of the CFEC athletes who gave it their all by not being in the picture.
Story…
In the 2nd heat of the second workout in the women’s division. It’s AMRAP of 15 double unders, 10 80# clean and jerks, 10 pull ups and 15 squats. Emily, Lisa, Briley and 2 other very talented athletes were all in this heat. I’m judging this girl, who is just out of the service, maybe 23-24 years old. I’m counting her reps and she’s neck and neck with my girls. She starts round 3 just ahead of Lisa and Emily, but a little behind Briley. She’s solid in her accuracy of reps, so there’s nothing anyone can knock about her performance. As round 3 continues, she’s starting to fade a little, and Em and Lisa start pulling away from her. It was very exciting to see but frustrating as hell, because I couldn’t cheer my girls on. One of the best heats of the day.

Yes, Pablo was both OJ Simpson, Mark Furhman and Judge Lance Ito all in one yesterday. Let’s not underestimate the amount of stress and pressure Pablo had to compete in the advanced division with a pack of beast then rush over to judge the awesome women’s heat then take a front seat to judge an intermediate men’s competitor who apparently saw a sign and walked off the streets and didn’t even know what a double under was. Poor Pablo.
