Regional Qualifier Recap: With over 70 CrossFit Affiliates competing for 8 slots for the 2010 CrossFit Games, CFEC's team placed 14th over all. The competition was not only stiff, but very stacked as well. Some of the top affiliate teams withheld their top athletes that were eligible to take part in the qualifiers as individuals, but chose to compete on their team squad. Our "little gym that could" held their own on all the 3 workouts. Great job Amelia, Emily, Rebecca, Don, JoJo and Matt.

In the Women's individual competition, Teshina placed 22th and Briley came in 39th. They both fought their hearts out in the 4 workouts. Teshina finished 3rd and 6th in 2 of the 4 workouts. Stellar work, Teshina. Briley did great with her heats, but realized how competitive it is at that elite level.

Dave Newman placed 50th in the Men's division. The competition that was thrown together at this qualifier was very intense. The names of top CrossFit athletes that did not make it to the Games this year reads like a who's who of the  CrossFit Games past. Josh Everett, Pat Barber and David Millar to name a few. Newman represented himself well in both athleticism and sportsmanship.

Paul has an outside chance to make it to the CrossFit Games in the newly instituted Master's Division. He placed first at the Southwest Qualifier and sits second in the world rankings. Only the top 15 will advance on to the Games at the Home Depot Center in July.

Great job to all of CFEC's athletes. They wish to thank all of the wonderful people who made the drive up this weekend and showed great support and inspiration.

Coaching Tips: Scale load and movements to match your current fitness level.  These workouts are taken from this weekend's competition.  The loads are a little lighter, but the potency is still enough to cause a high level of discomfort. Once the run is completed, rest 3 minutes, add weight to the bar and start the second workout. Check the clock once you finish the run. You can use either the push press or push jerk to get the bar from your shoulders to overhead.
