Why do we keep preaching about the squat? Its not only to get a tighter butt! The squat helps us get better at sport and simply getting around. The squat uses the posterior chain (the glutes, hamstrings, and adductors), which in turn helps us with our hip extension. Hip extension happens when you stand up from a sitting position to a standing position. And hip extension is the essence of every atheletic movement. Eg. running, punching, throwing. Practicing your squat will enable you to execute hip extension more powerfully, recruit more muscles, increase your speed, as yes…get a tighter butt! Check out Crossfit’s squat therapy video.
