BLAST FROM THE PAST
We have been fortunate this week to have some visitors from other CrossFits and some from out of town. Trisha Sears was in town from Boise, Idaho getting her Level One Certification with our very own Kim Brooks and Ashley Shoemaker. She worked with Paul and Jason at 24 Hr Fitness eons ago. Trisha stopped by Tuesday to get in on the Tabata action. Thanks for stopping by and a big congratulations to the three strong, beautiful women on getting their Level Certs!
We each train for our own reasons. Some for fun, fitness, competition, or maybe it is a job requirement or necessity. Others train for future athletic goals, or to regain or retain some past athletic glory. List your top 5 athletic achievements, whether it be as an individual, or as a team. Post thoughts to comments.
5. 1975 E.C. Pony League Champions
4. Grossmont J.C. vs. Rio Hondo J.C. 2 interceptions in one game.
3. 1976 and 1977 High School footbal League Champions for those 2 years. Undefeated in league play.
2. Finishing 9th in my age group at the Mission Bay Triathlon.
1.When I was 12 years old, I went up to bat 3 times in a Little League game and hit a home run each time up.
1. Crawdaddy’s Bar, Daytona Beach, FL, spring break 1974, 13 shots of cheap tequila before passing out.
2. Coaching my son’s LL baseball team and watching the kids win their league championship and make it to the Connecticut state finals in 1998 (my pleasure, their achievement).
In all seriousness, for the most part the last 5 WOD’s, on a rolling basis, ARE my greatest athletic achievements. Thanks again to everyone for their support.

1.Coached girls competitive gymnastics for 10 years and helped shape lives of many wonderful kids (now adults). Had some champions mixed in there too.
2.Ran the very 1st Rock N Roll marathon and finished in 3:55. Could have gone faster but my brother slowed me down.ha
3.Sr. year in high school I was starting quarterback and long snapper for punts and pat’s. On snaps, once the defensive linemen realized my upside down jersey number wasn’t 21 but actually 12 (the QB!) I became the 155 lbs human tackling dummy. Fun season. Made it to playoffs.
4.Surviving So Cal Qualifiers and placing 12th after 1st round of wods. Unfortunately there were 2 more wods.
5.Getting out of bed at 4:30 am, sore as hell to get beat up by Paul should qualify as a major accomplishment!
Hey Paul, good stuff bro. When you finished 9th in the Mission Bay Triathlon was that out of 8 competitors? 🙂
It was the women’s division.

Just came across a link to a movie of the guy who won this WOD at the Rocky Mountain Regional. Amazing given my legs felt like lead after doing this with 135# (of course they only did three rounds, lazy bums).

Drank the Kool-aid April 20th 2009 and I’m hooked! Jason Nanetti is awesome and Paul has setup by far the best gym/ workout environment I’ve ever stepped into let alone been able to go to regularly! Awesome job guys! I love CFEC!
Thank you, Kraig, for the kind words. We all at CFEC wish you great success in your upcoming academy with the California Highway Patrol. You’ll do awesome, bro.
Hey, F.Y.I. I just checked out Aimee Lyons’ blog and she has a picture of a few of us on there together while she was visiting last weekend. Is it just me or does everyone seem very happy in that picture? It’s at CrossFit KO Prussia.
Newman – what a performance! You’re my hero dude!
No, you’re MY hero J. Peterson. Thanks man, it hurt but felt great.Even went a little heavier in the deads trying to prepare for when Paul drops “Linda” wod on our heads.
The sick thing is I did a different heavy wod in the am but Paul is waving some mean voodoo. Had to come try it. Keep up the work.
Kraig, you’re a beast waiting to happen! 6:45 on your first Fran is awesome! My first Fran was just shy of 10 minutes. Keep up the awesome work. You’re going to smoke the academy for sure. I can’t wait to see your times Sac.
PT times up in Sacramento that is. Must have left a few fingers on the deadlift bar. Can’t type.

5. 15th out of 72 in age group in my 1st triathlon (Mission Bay Triathlon) even though I hate and am terrified of the swim, October, 2005
4. Qualifying for Boston Marathon with a time of 3:34:10 at the San Diego Rock-n-Roll in June, 2004
3. Running the Boston Marathon in 3:50:36, April, 2005
2. Getting a 135# Full Squat Clean and my muscle-up in the same day. (Sadly, we then learned about a month or so later that the bar was only 38#, so it was really only 128#, and I have not been able to lift that heavy since, still have my muscle-ups, though.)
1. Embracing CrossFit, drinking the Kool-Aid every day and sharing it with as many people as possible.
