San Diego and Arizona Sectional Qualifier Update: Teshina takes 2nd overall in the women's division. In a masterful display of tremendous athleticism, Teshina finishes on the podium. CFEC places 4 women in the top 20. Great job Teshina, Briley, Anniken and Diana for making it to the Regional Qualifiers in Irvine, May 8-9. Great work by Amelia, our last minute replacement for Lisa, who finished 28th. Those shoes to fill were huge and you did fantastic. Way to represent CFEC ladies.
Newman finishes in the top 10. Dave took 7th place among some very, very stiff competition. The top 20 men were all absolutely incredible athletes. Newman is eligible for the Regional Qualifiers in May, also. Matt finished in 39th, Tony finished in 42nd, Paul finished in 49th and Joe came in 67th. Way to go boys.
Workout:
"Teshina"
7 Power Snatches 95#/63#
21 Double Unders
7 times.

50 Pull Ups
100 Sit Ups

Coaching Tips: Scale load and movements to match your current fitness level. In honor of Teshina's perfect workout at the Sectionals, we've named the workout after her. 5:24 is the time to beat. Only 2 people alive have gone faster than that. The second workout can be partitioned if you'd like, but it will not be as Rx'd. You should do it the way it is written.
Reminder: Sign ups for the 2010 CrossFit Affiliate Cup team begins today. All people who are interested in being apart of CFEC's team to compete at the Regional Qualifiers in May need to sign up by Wednesday, as try outs start Thursday. There will be 5 workouts in 8 days and the 3 highest placing men and women will represent CFEC. The 4th man and woman will be alternates. Good luck.
Congratulations Teshina and Dave! Good luck at Regionals. I’ll be following it all from over here in Italy. You guys rock!
George, great to hear from you. These guys did a tremendous job. Competition was very tight, but they held their own. George, make sure you keep in touch and stop by any time you make it stateside. Stay safe.

OK, so the results they gave yesterday at the awards ceremony were not correct. It seems as though only Teshina and Briley made the top 20. They are going on to the Regional Qualifiers in May. All of the mix up is over the scoring system of the handstand push up part of yesterday’s chipper workout. It was pointed out to the judges yesterday before the final results were to be anounced that there was some athletes that had been given credit for handstand push ups they didn’t do. I was told, personally, that it would not change where CFEC’s athletes finished in the standings. I know that my athletes don’t want credit for something they did not do,so the point really doesn’t matter to them or me. I know that all of the ladies of CFEC did great. I also know that Teshina and Briley both did all 10 HSPU’s. So, we really only have 2 girls in the top 20. We are proud of all of you ladies, Amelia, Anniken, Diana, Briley and Teshina, for representing our gym so well.
Pablo, if I may add to your last statement about all of our amazing athletes. What a show of grit, tenacity and determination by all those gals named above not withstanding Tony, Matt and Joe.
They all really threw themselves into the fire without a fire extinguisher.
Most all of them were last minute add ins without the confidence builder of having trained for that competition or even being extremely proficient at some of the skills (double unders)and still went for it! I know they are all so much stronger mentally from the experience. Now they know they handle anything thrown in front of them and just chew it up and spit it out. I’m very excited to watch their growth in the coming weeks in the gym. It’s going to be pretty awesome.
For the rest of you who were maybe thinking about competing but chose not to, Stop F’ing thinking! Just go for it next time. I know we have ton more athletes in the gym equally as tenacious.
You may just surprise yourself.
And to further add… with the great vibe these competitions bring out in people, I received numerous compliments from other gym owners about how many good athletes we had in the field. CFSD’s GM said to Tina he never knew how big our gym was. He thought we were some little hole in the wall. Many commented specifically on our programming, both in curiosity and commentary. We made many new friends with our CF neighbors and as an owner, it was nice to interact with them about the business of CrossFit. Dave Castro re-introduced himself to Tina and I, and is helping Rebecca get into an earlier Cert. On another note, the rose colored glasses are no longer on, in respect to how others interpret what CrossFit is. Sure there are many talented people in the CrossFit community, but there are just as many if not more outside the CrossFit community. They just don’t do CrossFit. Thanks to everyone that made the weekend so special. Good job all.
One more thing… to those who almost came this weekend…there’s plenty of room in the pool and the water’s warm. Get in.

I posted my thoughts on facebook but I know there are a lot of you that aren’t on fb so I thought I’d make a quick remark here too.
I had an absolute blast this weekend and even though I never lifted a single weight…I’m exhausted. 😀 Cheering for the team and others was just outstanding.
I loved CFEC before, but now it’s something more…like family… yeah that’s it. Blood, sweat & tears together!
Way to go team….this is livin’
xo Liza
P.S. Bring on the Regionals Baby, I’ll be there cheering Teshina, Briley and Newman!
We have a ton of great video from the weekend that is now in the hands of S.Speilberg, getting edited and sound added. We got a glimps of Teshina’s great performance in the last workout on Saturday. We have everone’s great efforts in all workouts. We’ll have it all done soon for all to view.
Thank you so much with regard to giving everyone an update on this subject on your blog. Please know that if a brand new post becomes available or when any alterations occur with the current submission, I would be interested in reading a lot more and knowing how to make good utilization of those methods you write about. Thanks for your efforts and consideration of other men and women by making this website available.
