"So You Think You've Got It Bad"

I've been training Diana Towne for almost 3 years. As most of you may know by now, she is as talented an athlete as you'll ever find. Here is a short list of her recent accomplishments: 10th Place at the 2009 Southern California CrossFit Games Qualifiers, 1st place in her first off-road triathlon, top 10 finisher in 3 Day adventure race. These are only the things I know she's done since she became a client of mine.
Ever since she walked into, then La Mesa Workout, to start her fitness program, she has had orthopedic issues with her right shoulder. She has always displayed the grit of a true athletic warrior by working through the discomfort to advance her level of fitness. It wasn't until this Spring that Diana decided that enough was enough. She made the very tough decision to have surgery on her shoulder to ease some of the pain she was experiencing, and be able to perform Crossfit the way she knew she was capable of. She had the surgery performed 7 weeks ago.
Did having her arm in a sling slow her down? No, Diana had me putting her through workouts 5 days post-op. All of these workouts were done with only one arm and no running, no jumping, no sit-ups, and no real stress to her right side what so ever. Challenge accepted, challenge carried out. Last week she had her sling removed and was given clearance to start exercising without weightlifting. Today, Diane did the WOD "Grace" with one arm and with a barbell at 53#! She did it in 3:50, Amazing! So, when you start thinking you've got it bad…

Thanks for the kind words, I owe you a lot. You have done so much for me and have help me through so much. I really feel good having you as my trainer, you have been great for me, always pushing me and challenging me and that is what I love and what I live for. Yes, she’s amazing! Yes, she works harder than anybody else! Yes, she works through pain better than anybody else! Yes, she’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet!
We all know that already! I just want to take this time while she’s recovering from surgery to kick her BUTT in as many wods as possible!!! One arm or none, I don’t care. This is our chance to rack up the wods cuz I don’t even want to be around her when she’s healthy. It just won’t be fair to the rest of us ordinary, humans.
So BRING IT DI DI! I’m not afraid of your one arm!
Whoa! Tough talk Newman. I guess getting your butt kicked by a girl doesn’t have to stop just because your over 40. Although a one armed girl is a different story.
Diana, you will no doubt break the rehab record for your surgery, and yet again set new PR. Keep up the inspiring work!
I have an idea. Let’s have a wod on Saturday at the bay where we all have to swim only using one arm and we do laps around the buoys. The only catch is the laps are done counter clockwise. Whutch yu got Di Di?! Bring it girl!

Diana you are amazing!! I’ve seen you blow away your workouts but what??…you did a one arm what??? And there’s pictures to prove it. OMG Just shows that when we put our minds to it, we can accomplish anything!

That was an awesome display of shere determination and guts put on by Teshina and Jon B. in the 10:00am class. Neither one wanting to back down during the final run. Teshina led out the door by a slim margin, Jon was closing in, but ran out of real estate to pull ahead. Afterwards, they both callapsed on the gym floor and remained motionless for 3 minutes.That was a beauty to watch.
You see Teshina! I told you that you’re a closet runner. It’s time to come out! ha
Hey Pablo, did J-Rod try and talk you into letting him row instead of run? Do you use 3 rowers for the gassers? Run to one, row now run to the next, row then back again????
